Gastric Cancer
This session provides a structured overview of Gastric Cancer.
The lecture focuses on the epidemiology and clinical presentation of gastric cancer, highlighting the nonspecific nature of symptoms and reasons for delayed diagnosis. Common clinical features and key physical examination findings associated with advanced disease are reviewed.
Diagnostic approaches are discussed with emphasis on upper gastrointestinal endoscopy as the gold standard, along with staging methods and complementary imaging modalities. Histopathological and molecular classifications of gastric cancer, including TCGA subtypes, are outlined in relation to prognosis and treatment planning. Staging principles and surgical management strategies, particularly lymph node dissection approaches, are presented with a practical clinical perspective.
Following the lecture, a Kahoot quiz was held to reinforce key concepts, prizes were awarded to top-performing students, and the session concluded with an interactive Q&A.
