E-Cigarettes and Vaping: Health Risks and Clinical Awareness
The E-Cigarettes and Vaping: Health Risks and Clinical Awareness course is designed to inform medical students about the growing use of electronic cigarettes and their impact on public health.
The course examines the composition of e-cigarettes, nicotine delivery mechanisms, and the neurobiological basis of nicotine addiction. Short- and long-term health effects, including respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological risks, are discussed using current scientific evidence.
Special attention is given to vaping-related lung injury, youth vaping trends, and common misconceptions regarding e-cigarettes as a “safe alternative” to traditional smoking. The course also addresses counseling strategies, patient education, and the physician’s role in prevention and smoking cessation support.
This course aims to enhance clinical awareness and prepare future physicians to address vaping-related health issues with accurate knowledge and effective communication.
