Suturing – 2025
Overview
After the success of our previous suturing workshop, the 2025 edition returns with upgraded stations and more case-based practice. This session is still beginner-friendly, but it also helps returning students sharpen technique, improve speed without sacrificing precision, and learn how to choose the right closure method for common clinical scenarios.
What’s New This Year
We built this workshop based on feedback from our 2024 participants:
• More supervised practice time per student
• A clearer “decision pathway” for stitch selection
• Enhanced focus on wound assessment and closure planning
• Mini-cases that simulate real ED and surgical clerkship situations
Key Topics & Skills
• Instrument handling: efficient needle loading, angle control, wrist motion economy
• Technique mastery: interrupted, running, mattress sutures + practical variations
• Closure planning: layered thinking, tension distribution, and edge alignment
• Troubleshooting: knot slippage, uneven bites, dog-ears, and wound dehiscence prevention
• Professionalism: communication, consent language, and patient-centered mindset
Mentored Practice Model
Small-group mentorship remains the core of our training. You will practice with structured targets (accuracy, symmetry, tension) while instructors provide immediate performance feedback. By the end, you should feel comfortable performing basic closures on models and explaining your rationale.
Kahoot, Q&A, and Skill Games
Short Kahoot quizzes and rapid-fire questions after each segment reinforce learning and keep the session dynamic. We also include a “speed + precision” challenge where technique quality is prioritized over rushing.
Certification & Recognition
All participants receive a digital certificate of completion. Kahoot winners and standout performers in the skill challenges receive awards and gifts, plus an official WCA recognition post-event.
Who Should Join?
• First-timers who want a structured entry into suturing
• Returning participants who want refinement, clinical reasoning, and more repetitions
